Pleasing Others for the Glory of God

Back to all sermons Glorifying God in All Things

Date: November 19, 2017

Speaker: Rich Johnson

Series: Glorifying God in All Things

Scripture: Romans 15:1–15:7

We can please others by looking to Jesus who made it a priority to please us.

We can please others by building up their faith before calling them out.

We can please others by depending on God's strength above our own.

Admonish the Weak to:

  • be open with weakness
  • be open to instruction

Admonish the Strong to:

  • invite weaker members to relationship
  • invest in weaker members for maturity

A prayer for gospel unity

Father in Heaven, Christ is the head of the church, and we commit to live by the Holy Spirit to maintain this unity.

I believe that we should mature in our relationship with the God and our relationships with one another, this is pleasing to the Lord and a witness to the world.

I believe that we look more like Christ when we bear with one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, and believe in one another.

I will seek forgiveness for times of judging, avoiding, gossiping, bickering, and shaming others who are brothers and sisters in Christ who don't share my same convictions, values, and points of view.

I recognize that each person experiences areas of weakness, including me, and with your help and the help of others, our faith will grow stronger and unwavering.

I will pray and work for unity in our church that will make a more joyful sound of praise, glory, and honor in the name of the Father, the Son and the Spirit.
