Jesus Christ is the senior pastor and authoritative leader at Scarlet City Church. In accordance with the Scriptures, we believe that a plurality of elders lead the local church, under the authority of Christ, by casting vision, teach the Scriptures, and empowering people to be missionaries.

Jay O’Brien – Lead Pastor (Full-Time/Elder)

Jay is a native Ohioan being born in Cincinnati and going to high school in Wilmington. He met the love of his life, Megan at Florida Gulf Coast University graduating with a degree in Communication Theory. Both Jay and Megan moved to Dallas, TX where Jay received a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and led the Young Adult Ministry at Chase Oaks Church. After Texas they moved to Little Rock, AR to go through a church planting residency with Fellowship Associates. Jay has a passion for teaching the word of God and developing leaders to engage the mission of God in their context.

Gabe deGarmeaux – Missional Life & Teaching Pastor (Full-Time Staff/Elder)

Gabe comes to Columbus with a background in cross-cultural ministry and international missions. In the past he has worked with parachurch ministries such as Apartment Life and Athletes In Action, as well as ministering in local and global outreach on staff at churches in Plano, Texas and in the Washington D.C. metro area. While in Texas Gabe also received his MA in Cross-Cultural Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. Gabe and his wife, Monica, have two kids – their wonderfully creative daughter, Lilly, and their precious son, Deacon, who has gone home to be with the Lord.

Mike Juday – Worship Arts Director & Pastoral Apprentice (Part-Time/Deacon)

Mike grew up as an Air Force brat living in multiple countries and cultures. He graduated from George Mason University with a degree in music focused on classical guitar. There he grew in musical experience and passion for ministry, he also served with Campus Crusade for Christ and local churches during his college years. After college, he ministered on staff at a church in the Washington D.C. metro area as a director of the college group. There, Mike grew in his passion to be a pastor and lead worship. Scarlet City Church and Columbus are the perfect fit for Mike in his passions and his desire to learn and grow.
