Who Is This Man?

I am a major proponent of the idea that church is not a building, or a vender of some religious services or goods. Rather, church is a body of people on mission with God. And although I have a deep concern for what goes on at our worship gatherings on Sunday mornings, as the Missional Life Pastor at Scarlet City Church I spend the bulk of my efforts encouraging people to think about what God is doing in and through their lives outside of the hour and a half at hour worship gathering on Sunday mornings.

All that said I’m very excited that from January 8 – Easter our worship gatherings will be centered around looking at the life of Jesus in the gospel of Mark, and constantly asking and answering the question “Who is this Man?”

This is a unique opportunity for the people of Scarlet City Church to be reminded of who Jesus is (something we should never grow tired of!). It’s also a chance for people who have a lot of preconceived notions about Jesus to learn about who, exactly, the Bible says Jesus is.

“Who is this Man?” is arguably the most important question that to which we’ll ever have to give an account. And the implications of our answer don’t just determine our church membership or religious affiliation. It should, no doubt, influence every facet of our lives. Every waking hour of the day. Every day of the year. Not just for an hour and a half on Sunday.
