Meet Mike Juday, a musician with a heart to see the church change the world.
Mike picked up all of his stuff and moved from Fairfax, VA to Columbus, OH in order to be a key leader in Scarlet City Church through using his musical talent as well as through making disciples. Gabe recently interviewed Mike and we wanted to share the following with you:
Gabe: Who or what encouraged you to leave everything you know and help start a church?
Mike: When I read Scripture I realize that my life is not my own. The more I learned about the church plant, the more I felt a burden to join in what was going on to glorify God in that city, even though I knew it would definitely stretch me.
Gabe: Why do you want to participate in a church plant from the ground up?
Mike: I want to help break down and rebuild the whole idea of what church is supposed to be. It’s not a building or a place, it’s a people of faith joining God’s story. I get to be a part of creating that culture. I also get to learn about pastoral leadership and I get to be a student of theology and how to put theology into practice.
Gabe: You’re a musician. Who are 3 artists you’re listening to a lot right now?
Mike: Ascend the Hill, John Mark McMillan, and August Burns Red.
Gabe: Favorite book outside of the Bible?
Mike: Brothers, We Are Not Professionals, by John Piper.
3 ways you can pray for Mike:
1) That Mike can find a job that frees him to help lead church
2) For perseverance through transitioning to a new place
3) For him to have a deep longing to reach people in Columbus
Love you Mike! Praying for you guys in C-bus!
