reading dead guys

For the readers out there (if you’re not one consider it) it can be tempting to read only the new fashionable books. I can relate to this. I reviewed all of what I read the past year and none of them were books written by someone before my lifetime. I’m known for overcompensating so I picked up John Calvin’s Institutes. It’s been so refreshing!

Consider reading something before your lifetime. Whether it’s English literature, theology, philosophy, or history. A good way to start is to ask friends what they would suggest and then venture to your local library to check it out.

Awesome stuff… almost unlimited “dead guy” books / writings going all the way back to the earliest of church fathers.

  • Dead guys rock! I’ve been reading a lot of Tozer lately. Lawton is trying to get me back into Augustine’s Confessions. I only made it to p. 123 last time, but it is worth the effort. Lawton is also a big fan of Calvin’s Institutes. Bunyan is my fav.
