negative toward evangelicals

Since moving to Clintonville (a neighborhood on the north side of Columbus) I’ve been learning a lot about the people living here. It reminds me of my college days in many ways. Many are open to spiritual conversations but they’re not open to anything that reeks of evangelical Christianity which they associate with being a homophobic, oil spilling, war waging, republican.

Good thing our aim is not to convert people to evangelicalism as outlined above. Our hope is to lead people to be identified with and in Christ. I hope that God allows me opportunities to serve, love and befriend many people in the community so that I can look them in the eye and verbally share the transformative love of Jesus Christ.

Well said Jay. It’s sad to discover that even the term “Christian” has been tainted in the minds of many. May the Holy Spirit give us grace to continually pursue and love those who reject us and the Jesus we want them to know.
