throwing rocks

Many church leaders have been envisioning Christians to refrain from sitting in their holy huddles throwing rocks at non Christians. This conversation is needed in light of many who see their faith by what they stand against rather than what they stand for.

I’ve also noticed that there’s another type of rock throwing among Christians. Many Christ followers throw rocks at other Christ followers. This is especially evident among the so called “spiritually mature” who feel immense freedom to critique other churches and pastors whom they disagree with.

Is there a time to call someone to account? Absolutely. When there is evident sin we need to hold others accountable. When there’s clear heresy we need to clarify to others where we stand. However, in grey areas we need to be slow to speak.

With a sinful heart I’m prone to do this at times as well. It’s always easier to cut someone else down especially when they’re more “successful” than I am. Lets please join together in holding our tongue on matters such as size of congregation, building campaigns, style of music, etc. And lets find what unites us rather than what divides us.
