A city is exalted by the blessing provided by the upright. ~ Proverbs 11:11a
What a statement. I can’t get the thought of it out of my head. What an astounding truth for the church to cling to. According to Scripture a city should benefit from the presence of the righteous. Pair that with what Christ says in Matthew 5, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
What are the possible implications if the church buys in to the above mentioned Proverb?
I am smiling and so is the Gipper. Many people never understood what Ronald Regan was talking about. Or maybe those who critcized him did know. Ronald Regan—->John Winthrop’s City upon a Hill, 1630 —>Proverbs.
